From the cockpit of our professional racing simulator, here at York Motorsport Village, you can enter any or all 20 races between March and November. 

What's New For 2015?

Traction Control - Unlike last season, traction control will be switched on for all competitors. Traction Control assists in the prevention of wheel spin which will provide greater control through the corners. This aid will be switched to its lowest setting but proves to be very useful without impacting too much on the simulation experience.  

AI Mistakes - We've found an interesting setting that allow for the computer controlled cars to make more mistakes than before. Naturally we won't be handing victories to you on a plate but it does mean that a race win is more likely.

Points - We've changed the scoring system to keep the championship tighter. Drivers are awarded points for the race position (against computer cars) and for fastest lap time (against human competitors). Maximum points awarded for winning a race is 5 and 10 points are awarded for the fastest lap of the weekend. View the table below for the new scoring system:

Price - The price remains at the same reasonable rate of £19.95 per race. However, purchasing multiple tickets will save you more money as follows:

The Results

The Season

Consists of 20 rounds which will follow the official F1 calendar. Starting at Australia on Thursday 12 March and ending at Abu Dhabi on Sunday 29 November, each round will take place between Thursday and Sunday of the official race weekend, at the same circuit location.

The Race

Races will start with an initial one lap warm-up. Following this, competing drivers will start a 20 minute race from Pole Position on a grid of 21 randomly selected, computer controlled cars. 

Race Targets

Drivers race in an attempt to:

  • Try to beat the computer controlled cars and win their race
  • Set the fastest lap of the weekend

Points

Drivers will be awarded points for each race they participate in. There are two areas in which points can be gained:

Example: Finish the race in 5th position (3pts) against the computer cars and set the fastest lap time (10 pts), when compared to other competitors from the race weekend, would give a total of 13 points. 

 

Practice Sessions

Practice sessions are not compulsory. However, we strongly recommend that you undertake pre-practice prior to a forthcoming race, which is likely to increase your chances of success. Registered drivers who have formally secured a race date booking can receive £10 off any pre-race practice session of 30 minutes. 

Drivers can use practice sessions to familiarise themselves with the circuit layout and may also 'tweak' car settings.

Practice session - 30 mins: £27.50 (£19.50 with proof race date booking)

 

The Simulator

From our dedicated GPX race room, competitors will take the controls of our £60,000 racing simulator - as used by real F1 teams for driver training. The GPX boasts:

  • HD triple projection system
  • 180 degree 5 metre wrap-around visual display screen
  • Scaled F1 cockpit
  • Hydraulic powered G-force steering
  • Real GP2 race car steering wheel with paddle shift and LED rev counter
  • Quality sound system
  • Darkened, air-conditioned, private race room
